Despite my long absence...

...this post will be brief.

That face

Bought some old hand-pieced quilt squares today from Melanie's Closet (the store in the old Lettuce Knit space). I think they'll go into the red quilt. Once they're dry (which might be this afternoon, it's so dry in my house) I'll see how they look all together. Pics to come.

Side note: I see by the date on the red quilt photo that it's been over nine months since I've done anything significant on that quilt. Aie! I should stop putting dates in titles.

P.S. The photos are from my walk today (it's Day 5!). Eric wants to add "or" to the back of the stop sign.

Was February for finishing?

There's a blog out there called "February is for Finishing." I first heard of it when Allison joined their knit-along. I was inspired enough by the idea that I thought I'd try to finish some of my own projects; after all, it's always good to have a Goal.

Let's see how I fared.

1. Sister Trish's second sock.

Sock 2

Well, the sock is much further along than it was at the beginning of, er, January, when I last wrote about it. However, I have clearly failed to meet the "finished" criteria. Strike one.

2. The blue quilt.

I knew I wouldn't finish the blue quilt in February; my goal here was to finish the column on the left-hand side. I came pretty close (missing about 8 inches on the bottom), and I'm happy with my work. However... still not finished. Strike two.

3. Elv1s tank.

Elv1s

Ah, things are looking up. I started making this shirt about a year ago. Sometime before Christmas I changed the front of it (it used to be plain black). I was too lazy, though, to finish all the finicky edging. This week I finally did it. Two thumbs up for me. Check out the back of the shirt here.

I saved the best for last.

4. One job.

I am finally done one of my FIVE jobs. Let the relaxed version of my life begin!!! (It will only last until I find other things to fill my time.)

All in all not bad; I finished two out of four. Stay tuned for next month's post: Was March for finishing, too?

You-know-who plus plus

I don't often post other people's pictures, but this one was too good to pass up.

I've recently discovered a whole new pocket of inspiring websites that have links to one million wonderful things around the internet. Here are three of my favs for your perusal. Note: if you're like me, whole days will be sucked away looking at these. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Apartment Therapy: New York (always New York) – Q&A on making your apartment cooler and more design-ful. Brilliant suggestions and great links.

Design*Sponge – the internet is a wonderful place, and that's all I've got to say about that.

Karin Eriksson's Style Blog (my mother's name is Karen Erickson!) – more beautiful things: `day-to-day inspirations of a Sweden-based designer/maker of functional ceramics.'

I heart fridge magnets and you-know-who

Here are a couple of the fridge magnets I've made; these ones use pictures from my trip to London in the spring. The image on the right is a chandelier from Canterbury Cathedral (I shot in black and white there); who knows where the image on the left is from? Anyone? It's a bit obscure, but not if you've been to London in the past six or so years...

Other news: Eric's MOM got me a present!! I love it.
